music has always been a big part of my life. according to family lore, i sat myself at the piano at a very tender age (my mom says, 'oh, you could barely reach the keys') and tried to pick out a tune that i had heard from my mother's piano students. i remember sitting in my brother's room, listening to the words of the styx album, you know the guy had bent forks over his eyes on the cover? and trying deeply to understand what in the world they were singing about. i remember standing on the pew next to my mom singing the hallelujah chorus and feeling it resonate through my being. i remember meeting the man now known as my husband and finding out that he knew what canon in D was and actually had a cd of it. i remember, shortly after the birth of my third child, getting home from an errand and being physically unable to get out of the car because of a glorious rachmaninoff piece with piano and violins (and maybe angelic trumpets blaring). my children are very familiar with many types of musical moments, from new age (thanks to the litigator) to tchaikovsky to they might be giants (who, by the way, make the greatest kids songs ever).
now we have a new theme song. my genius brother steve made a slideshow of their family year with the best soundtrack. and there was one particular song we just could not get out of our minds....now it is our daily anthem, our mood lifter, our martial clean-up tune and dance party beat. what a jolly gift he gave us, and he never knew.
want to hear it? go here. i make no judgements about their video. please remember they are european.
