1. book club last night was so enjoyable. we read 'stargirl' and 'the westing game'. i think that i have developed some of my closest friendships when we've been sitting around discussing random things and laughing. maybe book club is second only to walking together. when i warned the kids it would be at our house they all started to make the noises they hear when they're all tucked in bed, excluded from the fun. apparently there is a lot of babbling and some very horsey, obnoxious laughing.

2. today we went to the park for friday club in the rain. thanks to my new christmas coat i was warm and toasty but f's little hands were so cold we ended up in the car. the older kids had a grand old time racing around getting wet, playing line tag and 'toilet tag'. i didn't ask. b and her friends even left a tiny acorn cup of freshly squeezed orange juice for the fairies.

3. we had 2 fantastic days of school this week. it was because of the workboxes. i'm so much more organized and the kids are so excited to see what's next, even if it IS math. i added some origami directions and paper and that sparked an interest that is still consuming all colorful papers in the closet.

4. i had a burst of energy with the break in the rain this week. i mostly painted the bookshelf for the boys' room, i finished the trees in the kids bath, cleaned out a few cupboards and cleaned up my bedroom. i love the creative things because they stick around!

5. last night the litigator made homemade tortillas for our burrito dinner. it was refreshing to come home from grocery shopping to find the house all tidy and dinner made. what a hero! and oh boy i forgot how delicious those homemade tortillas are. he used to make them all the time when we were first married.
