it's the time of year when i ponder what i want from life and what i've gained. how i've changed for good and bad. i try and pin my goals and desires on one word for the year. each time i have a fear of choosing the wrong word - because i don't want to push myself in a direction that is made for someone else's life and not my own. i don't want a word that is 'popular' or common. as usual, i'm torn between a few that seem to apply. the choice always comes down to a word that makes me feel inspired. 'order' has been tugging at my mind; she wants me to focus on my messy closets and prepare for a baby. 'engage' is telling me that my children won't be little for much longer. 'delight' reminds me that i am turning 36 this year. i'd better enjoy it!
but there is a word that seems to encompass these and more. RELISH speaks to me. appreciating my blessings. living each day to the fullest. being thankful and joyful for this time in my life. of being active in making the changes that i want to see in my family, my home and my life. if i have to organize my closets, well i'll just relish the opportunity. when my kids are screaming banshees and i can't think, i'll remember gram's quiet house and soak it in. when i feel frustrated by how little i accomplish in a day, i'll be happy for the dirty little hands and feet that create so much work. i'll relish the liberty i have to be an oracle for five little minds, for a little while longer. maybe i'll even learn to make relish!
