and yet
waddling is no fun. waking up several times a night is no fun. children who can't fall asleep, are cranky, and want to sit on my lap but can't - no fun.
the worst is kind and well meaning people who don't realize they are just like the other 200 kind and well meaning people i've just spoken to who want to know all about why that baby isn't here yet. the litigator says i should say, 'oh, i didn't know i could pick a date and get results!' but i keep smiling and saying nice things even when someone says, 'oh, it's either twins or a boy' or 'do you need a chair' or 'i thought you'd be home with a baby by now'. i tell the kids we're just like the pioneers. it's an early summer baby and we'll be happy with that.
we had our traditional family night where they race all over the house posting signs to distinguish areas for diaper time, sleep time, bath time. we talked about why our Heavenly Father is sending this baby to us. we talked about how they can help the baby, and how they can help me. i think we all think i'll just be pregnant forever. my midwife disagrees, so i'm trying to rest and enjoy it.
