this list of 'best books' has been traveling around - apparently it comes from the bbc and they believe that most people have read only 6 of them. i find that pretty shocking myself. you're meant to mark an x on the books you have read. i marked x on a few that i read at least the first 1/3 and then couldn't stand to go on. i count it! i don't believe in forcing oneself to read a book one hates. admittedly, there are only a few of them. my fellow book club members would know! i have my doubts as to the quality of some of them too. i feel free to substitute my own. but it is a fun exercise. thanks to my niece for pointing this list out~
