since school began i haven't had much time. ok, it's partly because on consecutive nights i went out with friends, went to book club and on a date with the litigator. suddenly it was sunday. now we're back in the week and today was my girl b's 10th birthday. we watched videos of her new babyness and i just wanted to go back in time and hug those tiny girls. i knew but i didn't know how beautiful life was then.

i have some favorite pictures that have been percolating for posting from our vacation.

solvang, a charming danish village (little mermaid statue back there somewhere). we did eat abelskiver but i don't think i got my fair share.

gramma's house has a lot of good books. strangely, that's my foot. how did i take this picture?

we visited grampa's vacuum store. b commandeered the camera.

bananas + beach sand. perfection.

he liked to lay his head right on the sand. which made me a basket case. but you're only innocent enough to believe that sand can't hurt for a short time.

dad gave them all a ride. he keeps the board at gramma's for just this purpose.

she was harder to catch. he was teaching her how to buggy board. (sorry,that's what a calls it).

how crazy is my point and shoot? look at that droplet! i think 3 of my siblings have this camera too.

b and f spent most of their time here. the best toy ever.

okay, so most of the pictures are of the beach. but isn't it the best for vacation? i have to remind myself while i'm there to breathe deep and soak it in because it's going to be a long northern california year till i see it again!
